Prof. Dr. Andreas Ditsche and Rabea Brunstering discuss Gambling Regulations: Does One Size Fit All?

Gambling regulations are fundamentally about player protection. But what happens if the regulations protect the few and not the many?

All over the world, and especially in countries like Germany, lawmakers have adopted a blanket approach to regulating gambling activities.

For example, with general restrictions like the maximum stake of €1 per spin on slots and the minimum waiting time of 5 seconds, regulators seek to help players control their gambling habits.

In reality, these rules often ignore that not all players are the same. They may even drive some toward black market operators with no responsible gambling tools.

In the latest episode of the iGamingCare podcast, our CEO, Professor Dr. Andreas Ditsche, sits down with clinical psychologist Rabea Brunstering to learn about the impact of gambling restrictions on players.

The above video is a snippet from the conversation, where Professor Dr. Andreas Ditsche talks about how regulators restrict the amount players can bet.

“To me, this would work if the player remains kind of rational, saying, ok, my money is spent, now I stop playing.”
